Gut-Supportive Gummies

Mineral-rich, gut-healing, and endlessly adaptable.

 Ingredients

  • 1 cup liquid (juice, coconut water, herbal tea, raw milk, or fruit purée — see notes below)
  • 2–3* tablespoons grass-fed, grass-finished gelatine powder (not collagen peptides)
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey (optional, to taste)

*How much gelatine to use:

2 tbsp per cup of liquid→ Soft-set, delicate gummies

2½ tbsp per cup of liquid→ Firm but tender, hold shape nicely

3 tbsp per cup of liquid→ Very firm, chewy snack-style texture

 Method

  1. Bloom the gelatine: Pour ⅓ cup of the liquid (cold or room temperature) into a small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatine evenly over the surface and let it bloom for 5–10 minutes.
  2. Warm and dissolve: Gently heat the remaining ⅔ cup of liquid over low heat — do not boil. Stir in honey, if using, then whisk in the bloomed gelatine until fully dissolved.
  3. Cool if needed: If using raw milk or yoghurt, cool the mixture below 40 °C before adding to preserve probiotics and enzymes.
  4. Pour and set: Pour the mixture into silicone moulds, jars, ramekins, or a shallow dish. Refrigerate for 1–2 hours until set.
  5. Store: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge. Juice-based gummies last up to 7 days; dairy or fruit purée versions are best consumed within 3–4 days.

Variations

  • With puréed fruit: Replace up to half the liquid with blended fruit (strain if smoother texture desired).
  • With raw milk or yoghurt: Use half raw dairy and half water or tea — cool gelatine mix before combining.
  • With herbal tea: Try chamomile, rooibos, or ginger for flavour and calm.
  • With whole fruit: Scatter chopped fruit into moulds before pouring.

Therapeutic Add-Ins

  • For above recipe:
  • Magnesium powder (100–200 mg)
  • Elderberry syrup (2–4 tablespoons)
  • Vitamin C (½–1 tsp — add below 40 °C)
  • Citrus zest (½ tsp)
  • Collagen peptides (1–2 tbsp in addition to gelatine)
  • Probiotic powder (add only below 37 °C and only in dairy-based versions)

Top Tips

  • Use high-quality gelatine (grass-fed, grass-finished, glyphosate-tested).
  • Always bloom gelatine before heating for the smoothest texture.
  • Avoid using raw: pineapple, kiwi, mango, papaya, fig, or passionfruit — simmer first to deactivate enzymes that prevent setting. Let cool before using.
  • For easy grab-and-go snacks, pour into small jars, ramekins, or lidded pots. These portable single-serves are perfect for lunchboxes or teatime treats.
  • Consume dairy or fresh fruit-based versions within 3-4 days.
